Description:
The Musk Ox is a large herbivorous mammal, easily recognized by its thick brown fur that protects it from the freezing temperatures of the Arctic. This robust animal, with curved horns and a massive build, primarily inhabits the cold regions of Canada, Greenland, Alaska, and Norway. The Musk Ox feeds on woody plants, lichens, and mosses, which it finds in Arctic and sub-Arctic zones. It forms social groups to protect itself from predators and extreme weather conditions. Adapted to harsh environments, the Musk Ox is an extremely resilient animal, capable of surviving extremely low temperatures due to its dense coat. However, it remains vulnerable to climate change, habitat loss, and human disturbances, which threaten its population.

Recommended lens:
>=70-200 mm

Photography tips:
Approach slowly and discreetly, using a telephoto lens to capture images from a distance, as the musk ox is a large herbivore that may move away or become defensive if disturbed. Photograph early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the light is soft and the musk ox is more active, often feeding or moving in Arctic or sub-Arctic environments. Capture moments of natural behavior: The musk ox is often seen in groups, offering opportunities for dynamic photos, particularly during its movements or social interactions within the herd. Be patient and respectful: The musk ox lives in often remote and difficult-to-access habitats. Wait for moments when it is more visible and avoid intruding on its personal space. The musk ox is a vulnerable species due to climate change, loss of its natural habitat, and poaching. It is crucial to respect its space and not disturb its feeding or social behaviors. Follow local conservation rules to protect this species and its fragile habitat.
